Event Details

In this week long millinery introduction, participants learn a variety of materials and techniques including hands-on experience with Sinamay, Felt, and Buckrum. There is also an optional extra day of advanced sinamay.

This covers:

Day one: Sinamay fascinator workshop with feather manipulation, birdcage veil and sinamay roses.

Day two: Felt blocking using two piece hat block, looking at trims and experimenting with designs. This is also known as the ‘Downton Abbey’ part of the course! Participants have the option of creating one or two ‘percher’ felt hats instead of a two-piece hat. See photos below for examples.

Day three and four: Wiring, trimming, sewing two pieces together. Starting buckrum if time.

Day five: Buckrum or advanced sinamay (depending on what the majority of the group prefer)

Extra possible day: Day Six: Buckrum or advanced sinamay.

The Cost is £580 for 5 days, or £670 including the advanced sinamay. This includes lunch on the first day, and all materials. For the felt, the default colour is brown, if you’d like to exchange this for another colour it’ll be an extra £10.

There is currently only one space left on this course, as the numbers are capped very low (2 or 3 people depending on location). Tickets are non-refundable.
